Las Vegas Valley chaplain Brian Scroggins is working to expand support for local first responders through the Emergency Management Foundation. Serving Metro Police, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, and Clark County Fire, Scroggins hopes to build a stronger volunteer chaplain program to meet the growing needs of hundreds of firefighters and officers across the valley.
The Christian Century – November 2017
In the aftermath of the Route 91 shooting, Brian Scroggins was asked to establish a family crisis response center and oversee the spiritual care of victims and their families. From organizing donations and coordinating grief counselors to praying with survivors, Scroggins worked long days at the Las Vegas Convention Center to bring comfort and order during an overwhelming tragedy.
For weeks after the Route 91 shooting, Brian Scroggins walked the halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center, hugging the anxious, praying with the grieving, and coordinating chaplains and volunteers from across faiths. Drawing on his training and his deep faith, he became a steady presence of compassion and resilience for victims’ families during their darkest hours.
